| ~Welcome To Gotei 13~ The Gotei 13 is the organization which most Shinigami join.It is split into thirteen divisions with several divisions having certain specializations.The Gotei 13 does not operate as a cohesive unit normally. The command of the divisions are generally left to the discretion of its particular Captain, who commonly runs it as they see fit, allowing for the change of a division's traditional duties to an entirely new set and even the creation of a separate institution connected to the division. The Gotei 13's main duty is to defend the Seireitei but they are also allocated districts of Rukongai to defend. In addition to these duties, Shinigami also have to deal with the business of being assigned to the Human World and the duties they perform there.Each Division is made up of just over 200 Shinigami, with the Gotei 13's standing force being just around 3000 total enlisted troops. The Shinigami are typically recruited through the Shinigami Academy.~Location~Gotein 13 is located in Seireitei part of Soul Society.Soul Society is the place where most departed souls and the Shinigami dwell.This world consists of the Rukongai where souls first live when they arrive in the Soul Society, and the Seireitei.Seireitei:
Seireitei is in the center of Soul Society. It is a circular shiro with four main entrances, ten days walk apart,each guarded by a Gate Guardian. These gates are called the Black Ridge Gate (in the North), the Blue Stream Gate (in the East), the Red Hollow Gate (in the South) and the White Way Gate (in the West).There are, however, doors within the gates.The walls of Seireitei are made of Sekkiseki, a rare type of stone known to negate all Reiryoku, which prevents the ability to gather Reishi underneath your feet to walk in the air whist within Seireitei. The stone also forms a spherical barrier around the city, extending above and below, stopping anything spiritual from breaching it from ground level, from the sky or from underground.Rukongai:
Rukongai is the largest portion of Soul Society and the most populated. It is divided into 320 districts (80 in North Rukongai, 80 in West Rukongai, etc.), each numbered in descending order on how far they are from the center; this results in the higher-numbered districts decaying into slums. Thus, while District 1 is peaceful and lawful,District 80 is a hardscrabble,violent,crime-infested area.Known Districts:- Spoiler:

~Accessing Soul Society~Shinigami enter and leave Soul Society by unlocking the Senkaimon using a Hell Butterfly. Pluses enter through the ritual of Soul Burial. Intruders can pass through the Senkaimon in the same manner, but only in soul form.The lack of a Hell Butterfly forces intruders to pass through the Dangai, a bordering dimension between the human world and Soul Society. This is dangerous to do, if you don't pass through before the gate to Soul Society closes you get trapped there forever.Hollows can also directly rip a hole to Soul Society from Hueco Mundo, or in the case of Arrancar, using their ability,Garganta. ~Shinigami~Shinigami ("death god(s)";"Soul Reaper(s)") are spiritual beings that act as enforcers and psychopomps who all share similar supernatural powers.Shinigami use their Zanpakutō, supernatural swords that are the manifestation of their owners' power, to perform soul burials on Pluses. Shinigami also use their Zanpakutō as well as magic known as Kidō to fight and purify Hollows.Shinigami can only be seen by other spiritually aware entities, which excludes most humans. Nevertheless, they are quite capable of influencing their environment.Duties include soul burial,hollow cleansing and soul governance.They use Zankensoki-basic shinigami fighting techniques.This includes:Kidō,Hakuda,Hohō and Zanjutsu.~Reiryoku (霊力, Spiritual Power)~- Spoiler:
Reiryoku (霊力, Spiritual Power) is a power aligned with the spiritual sensitivity and willpower of the user.Every spiritual being and every human has a certain amount of Reiryoku. If this amount is higher than a certain degree, it grants the person superhuman abilities.Reiryoku is used by Shinigami to:increase their physical strength, power, speed and their height of jump, or to float in the air;effectively channel the powers of their Zanpakutō and use its special abilities (shikai,bankai,etc);cast Kidō;provide power for their various other feats.It can also be coalesced into a physical form and thrown or shot as a projectile.Hollows and Arrancar can also increase their mobility and strength with it like the Shinigami above,the usage of their Zanpakutō also relies on Reiryoku, albeit in a different manner.Cero and Bala are Reiryoku based attacks,Hierro and Regeneration also use it. As a display of potency, spiritual beings have the ability to incapacitate the opponent's movement and simultaneously frighten them, by means of dispersing Reiryoku into the air. The ability is known as Reiatsu (Spiritual Pressure).Those with higher levels of Reiryoku are also able to sense other spiritual beings without relying on their five basic senses.This ability can be improved by training.Every spiritual being has a unique pattern to his/her emitted Reiryoku. One can recognize the pattern of his friends after some time,being able to sense their presence and their physical and mental state from relatively great distances. Sudden changes in Reiryoku pattern can mean that the person in question is in great stress (i.e. fighting) or has received a grave wound.Different types of spiritual beings have greatly different patterns of Reiryoku,a Hollows differs from Shinigamis.By completely blocking his/her Reiryoku "pouring out", one can completely hide his/her presence from other spiritual beings.On the other hand, amplifying this emission is known as Spiritual Pressure, and is considered a show of force, or even an attack in itself, and it can indeed paralyze opponents, and cause direct damage to the surrounding individuals and inanimate objects alike.After excessive usage of Reiryoku Shinigami and other dwellers of Soul Society need food to replenish their strength.
~Reiatsu (霊圧, Spiritual Pressure) ~- Spoiler:
Reiatsu (霊圧, Spiritual Pressure) is the physical force/pressure that a person’s Reiryoku creates when released.The difference between spiritual pressure and spiritual energy is: Reiryoku is the amount of energy a being has stored within their body or soul, whereas Reiatsu is the pressure that a person’s Reiryoku exerts. The difference is much like energy and power. Power being the amount of energy exerted per unit of time. Reiryoku is potential while Reiatsu is energy in use.A skilled warrior can overcome a person possessing greater Spirit Energy by possessing greater Spiritual Pressure.
Each person has their own Reiatsu color determined by their personality.Some people's Reiatsu manifests into a shape,based on inner strength/energy, whenever the release enough of it.(Example:Ichgio's blue Reiatsu in shape of his Hollow Mask.)With sufficient enough power, Shinigami can use their own reiatsu to harden their skin, and effectively protect themselves from attacks.Reiatsu at its most basic level can instill fear in others when it is very high,willpower being the way to fight this method.High level of spiritual power can cause those of significantly lower power to: be stunned by simply being in its presence,feel as though they are being attacked though nothing is physically happening to them.It can also be used to paralyze an opponent just by focusing pressure through a stare. (Can be used on significantly lower level NPC's only.Think difference between a high level Captain and academy student.)In high enough quantities, spiritual pressure can be lethal to others.(This is for use by special NPC's only,like three groups leaders, since power difference must be immense). Most characters have standart type of reiatsu, which has no other effect than those described above, along with its unique color and feeling. Most Hollows and Shinigami have this type, while every Quincy and Human always have this type.All Vizard and Arrancar have dual type specific reiatsu.
~Special Organizations~The Onmitsukidō, also called the Secret Mobile Unit/Corps, Special Forces,Stealth Force or Covert Ops,is a special strike unit. It is divided into five units, each of which has its own special duties to carry out. If the Gotei 13 are considered an exterior guard, then the Onmitsukidō is an interior, covert guard.Onmitsukidō Ranks- Spoiler:
The head of the Onmitsukidō is called Commander-in-chief (sōshireikan). The leaders of each of the divisions are ranked as Corps Commander (gundanchō). Given that the Onmitsukidō is currently tied with the Gotei 13's 2nd Division, each Corps Commander also holds a Seated Officer position in said division.
Divisions
1.Executive Militia (Punishment Force): The first branch of the Onmitsukidō. It is ranked the highest of the five branches in the division. Their responsibilities including punishment and assassination of ex-comrades who break the law and acting as scouts during battle against Hollows.
2.Patrol Corps: Their job is to patrol the Seireitei. In the event of those under house arrest escaping they also are tasked with finding and apprehending them. Externally they patrol the various lands and dimensions to combat dangerous Hollows and other enemies of Soul Society.
3.Detention Unit: The Detention Unit is responsible for the imprisonment and supervision of all criminals within the Seireitei. They also have another duty known as Special Detention, which concerns those who joined the Gotei 13 but were judged to be a danger to their fellow Shinigami. They investigate, apprehend, and keep these individuals sealed away from the rest of Soul Society within the Special Underground Detention Facility, aka. the Nest of Maggots. This unit acts somewhat similar to a prison and mental rehabilitation center.
4.Intelligence Force: This unit is responsible for gathering intel on newly appeared enemies,goings on of Seireitei,situation of Rukongai,etc. When shinigami are assigned missions the intel given to them has usually been gathered by this unit.Their job is to know what is going on and where.
5.Reversal Counter Force (Secret Remote Squad, Correctional Force): This special unit sends information within the Soul Society.Commonly seen relaying high priority orders and messages to Captains and lieutenants from the Captain-Commander and/or other Captains.They also deliver mission assignments.
The Shinigami Research and Development Institute is an organization within Soul Society.The institute is behind the development of many of the technologies that aid the Shinigami.It has performed extensive research into the modification of souls; the results of this research were artificial souls, both in the form of "soul candy" and Project Spearhead. The SRDI also tracks spirit activity in the real world, maintains Gigai and soul phones.Sub-labs:- Spoiler:
The Shinigami Research and Development Institute has a series of labs specializing in particular types of research. These specialized labs include,
* Spiritual Wave Measurement Lab: In-charge of monitoring Arrancar activities.
* Communication Technology Research Department: This lab is responsible for the development of communication technology, including soul cellphones.
~Division Specialties~- Spoiler:
1st:No special duties have been noted for the 1st Division, other than their captain being the Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13.
2nd:The 2nd Division is closely tied to the Onmitsukidō, with many members holding positions in both units. As a result, many members of the 2nd Division are skilled in the use of Hakuda, stealth and assassination.
4th:The 4th Division is the medical/supply division. They are responsible for both treating the injured and doing most manual labor such as cleaning Seireitei. Because of this, they have keys to most of the buildings and know the underground sewer system well. According to various members of the 11th Division, 4th Division members are rather weak at combat instead using their power to heal. The 4th Division is further divided into teams that have specific assigned jobs.
9th:The 9th Division is known to be in charge of the Seireitei Communication monthly magazine. All the lieutenants of the Divisions of Gotei 13 hand in their report to them.
11th:The Eleventh Division is the melee combat Division with a specialization in swords-only combat, forgoing the other Shinigami arts.Their members have combat type zanpakuto.Relying on strength and fighting skill they frown upon kido type zanpakuto.
This division enjoys fighting and combat.
12th:Other than the 12th Division's connection to the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, no special duties have been noted for the 12th Division. Members are tasked with research and collection of data and samples, and the captain is the President of the R&D Institute.
~Ranks~As with any army, the Gotei 13 has ranks. There are 20 ranks for officers but no ranks for non-officers. The lower the number is, the higher the rank. - Spoiler:
Captains aka Taicho:
A Captain is the leader of one of the thirteen divisions.Captains are able to utilize the final stage of their Zanpakutō, and are more powerful than even their lieutenants. Knowing Bankai gives captains an average of five-to-ten times the strength of Shinigami who are unable to perform it. They have also extensively-trained, if not mastered, their Bankai, allowing them to actually use the enormous power effectively in battle.The captain of one division cannot punish the subordinates of another captain.On a regular basis, the captains are spread out all across the Soul Society doing their divisions' duties, whatever they may be.
Lieutenant aka Vice Captain aka Fukutaichō:
A lieutenant is the 2nd seated officer in a division.Lieutenants function as executive officers for their division, taking care of or supervising day-to-day operations. They (along with their captains) are not assigned to one specific squad. They generally only know the Shikai of their Zanpakutō, but are still the second strongest in their division. In the case of a division captain's death, departure, or other circumstances making him unable to perform their duties, the lieutenant acts as the "substitute captain" until another can be assigned.
Seated Officers:
Seated officers are the remainder of the officers in the Gotei 13 that hold ranks at or below 3rd Seat. Captains and lieutenants have the ranks of 1st and 2nd Seats, respectively. Next to that, there are 18 more seats (3rd-to-20th).In the Gotei 13, only one person can hold a senior officer rank (such as 3rd or 5th seat), but there are several holders of junior officer ranks (e.g. 20th seat).
~Point in the Story~A secret underground lab was discovered in the outskirts of Rukogai.Mostly abandoned,there was only one scientists still there.Experiments performed there were illegal and immoral,tries to create Shinigami with Hollow powers and Hollows with Shinigami powers.Investigation into this matter is still undergoing.Soul Society has been invaded by the newly appeared organizations that calls itself The Arcana.With ranks based on the cards of the Major Arcana of the Tarot three of their agents has been encountered so far.The Tower-Hisashi Tou,The Death-Mikiru Urame and The Magician-Akkei Sakkaku.Using a Menos spewing Hollow called Fura they caused a distraction,stealing into the Department of Research and Development.Though a group of shinigami confronted them The Arcana managed to escape with twelve pieces of stolen machinery and unknown data taken from the Department's central computer.We were unable to find out what data was taken as they have completely erased it from the computers memory.~Current Shinigami~- Spoiler:

Most Gotei 13 personnel wear the standard Shinigami uniform, called Shihakushō - a white shitagi, a black kosode, a black hakama, a white hakama-himo, white tabi, and waraji. The black hakama also has its owner's division insignia emblazoned on the inside. Lieutenants sometimes also wear an armband which carries their division symbol and its number, usually on their left arm. Captains wear a white haori over the usual black Shinigami clothes, with the number of their division on the back, inside the Gotei 13 symbol. Some captains have long sleeves, while the others do not.The color of the underside is division specific.Gotei 13 officers, particularly captains and lieutenants, often customize their personal appearance or that of their uniform.
~Creating a Shinigami Character~In your character's profile you should include a good description of their physical appearance,their history,their abilities and preferably a little about their mastery of the shinigami techniques:Kidō,Hakuda,Hohō and Zanjutsu.(More information on those can be found in RP Guide.) Also,the color of their reiatsu and description of:their zanpakuto, the zanpakuto spirit and their inner world. If you're unsure what else to put in your profile take a look at some belonging to other members.Shinigami start out as Trainee's,having recently graduated from the academy.It should be noted it normally takes six years to graduate though one might do it quicker.Upon reaching level three you can request to join a division.At level 12 obtaining a Shikai can be role played out in whatever mission your character is in at the moment or you can request a special mission during which your character can obtain it.Same is done with obtaining a Bankai at level 35.Before gaining Bankai your character should be able to manifest their zanpakuto spirit.You get three abilities with Shikai and three abilities with Bankai.Please make it balanced,each ability should have some small drawback or weakness to it.Becoming a seated officer:Promotion to a seated position depends on your characters actions during missions,how many s/he has completed,their skills in battles and a couple other things.Promotions are given by the Captain,can be recommended by the Vice Captain or in absence of both,by the Admin.Becoming a Vice Captain: Must have shikai.Rest of the rules pending.Becoming a Captain: Must have bankai.Rest of the rules pending.
